Help center
Always wear a helmet
Australian law requires all cyclists to wear an approved helmet. Failure to do so may result in a fine. Helmets are provided free at every RedVolt store.
Helmet requirements
- A helmet must be worn at all times while riding an e-bike. This is a legal requirement in Australia.
- Helmets are provided free of charge at each store when you pick up your bike.
- Ensure your helmet fits snugly and the chin strap is securely fastened before riding.
Road rules
- E-bikes must follow the same road rules as regular bicycles in Australia.
- Ride on the left side of the road or in designated bike lanes where available.
- Obey all traffic signals, signs, and road markings.
- Use hand signals to indicate turns and stops.
- Do not ride on footpaths unless signage permits it.
Visibility & awareness
- All RedVolt e-bikes are equipped with front and rear lights. Ensure they are working before you ride.
- Wear bright or reflective clothing, especially when riding at dawn, dusk, or night.
- Stay alert and watch for pedestrians, vehicles, and obstacles at all times.
- Avoid using headphones or mobile phones while riding.
Speed & control
- Our e-bikes have a maximum assisted speed of 25 km/h as per Australian regulations.
- Reduce your speed in wet conditions, on gravel, or in crowded areas.
- Keep both hands on the handlebars at all times.
- Use both brakes evenly to slow down — avoid sudden hard braking.
Parking & locking
- Always park your e-bike in designated bicycle parking areas.
- Do not block footpaths, building entrances, or accessibility ramps.
- Use the built-in lock whenever you leave the bike unattended.
- The bike must be returned to the same store where it was picked up.
In case of emergency
- If you are involved in an accident, call 000 (emergency services) immediately.
- Contact the rental store using the phone number in your order details.
- Do not attempt to repair or modify the e-bike yourself.
- If the bike develops a fault, stop riding and walk it to a safe location.
